This project is going along at breakneck speed now and we’ve got the next two workshops arranged to invite more people to help us make more beds.
The first will be on Mon 30 Nov at 18.30 at the Impact Hub, 58 Oxford St, Digbeth, Birmingham. We will be starting promptly then so I can give out the instructions to everyone at the same time. Then, we’ll make as many as we can in a couple of hours which a group of us will use on a sleep out we’re doing the following Saturday in B’ham to raise money for homeless supplies. We will then pass them on to homeless people to keep and hopefully get things moving well in the city.
The next one will be at the University of Wolverhampton on Tue 8 Dec from 11.00 till 14.00. I’ll update with the exact building when I get the info but this will be to do the same but to give to homeless people straight away. We need a few volunteers to do this and also to take up the card from Leisure Lakes bikes on School St (which I will arrange next week).
Please let us know if you can come along to either of those in the comments below.
The other news is that we will have some plastic sheets donated by McFarlane Packaging This is a big help with securing plastic, which has been difficult to find up to now so a big thank you to them. We will be able to waterproof about 150 beds!!!
There will be an article in The Guardian on Friday and I’ll link to it when I get it.
There is now a facebook page for Card Beds. Please like and share it.
Please share this as it’s short notice to get volunteers for the workshops. 🙂
