Black Country Writers launch event

Since I began this project at the start of the month, I have been able to reach a number of local writers and writing groups. I went to the City Voices evening a couple of weeks ago and explained it there as well. The response has been very positive and I’ve had a good number of people submitting work to it and it’s still coming in.

Having reached the target needed to launch the project in Wild Bytes café on Darlington St, W’ton, we are going to have a launch event on Valentine’s Day. For this, we will have a number of the writers reading their work (all poetry so far) that will either fit with the theme of the day or will be light-hearted. It will begin at 1pm so if you’re interested in coming with your partner for a cultural event or just interested in hearing some readings and supporting our local talent, feel free to come along, have a cuppa and some lunch and sit back to be entertained. Emma Purshouse, a local, known writer will be one of the authors reading as well as at least 4 others.

It is due to go on until at least 2.30, maybe 3.00 which will also be a part of the café’s official launch day. Later on in the evening at 7pm will be an open mic event to hear even more local talent.

The full collection of accepted writings will be available for customers to read in the café from that day, so if you can’t make it, look out for the box of laminated short pieces of work by the till and enjoy them while you have a drink.

For those writers who haven’t yet submitted their work, it is still open and there is no deadline so have a look at the page that explains the details and feel free to send in your work.

Sat 14 Feb, 1pm, Wild Bytes café, Darlington St. See you there!
